What’s something you like more about the physiques of modern day bodybuilders vs the golden era?

I would have to say cannonball delts. I’ll take golden era physiques over modern day pros any day of the week. But modern day pros have insanely nice shoulders. I’ve heard people on this sub say they don’t like overdeveloped delts. Even though symmetry is important, I’d have to say imo delts are the best looking muscle to have overdeveloped.

Lactose Enzymes and Bodybuilding

Milk is pretty damn great for gaining muscle, bone strength, and for a plethora of other health benefits for the body. Well, that is if your Lactose tolerant to it.

After my GP did a Lactose Intolerance test for me he determined that I was on the border of it. Which means for now I can still digest dairy and all that good stuff, but bloating, nausea, and other annoyances are a problem and will continue to get worse as my body (and the general populations) slow down the production of the Lactose enzyme with age. Hence, why I've been avoiding primarily milk.

While those are just annoyances, I am really interested in how the decrease in dairy consumption has on gains in the gym. If borderline intolerance wasn't an issue, I'd be chugging milk down for breakfast, lunch and dinner and reaping the benefits of my uptake in protein.

So my question is, for those who have taken Lactose Enzyme pills, or Lactose Free Milk*, have you seen improvements in muscle gain or general improvements in body? Considering milk can be great for your diet, if your body can digest it, I'd like to see if this has worked for others when it comes to gains over time.

What body builder says this quote? I've looked everywhere for it, but can't find who says it.

"lower body, you got a problem building your your lower body, you got upper lower body, you got the upper body ugl the lower body you uh its hard to build the upper body. if you have the lower body, it's harder to build the upper body, if you have the upper body, it's hard to build lower, so, lower helps like i said, you have the lower body and you have no upper body you got a problem you got a problem building... wait a minute, you have the upper body and you have no legs, you have the upper body and you have no legs, you got a problem building the legs. you have an upper, you have the lower body, and you dont have the upper body the upper body, it's easier to build. so if you have the lower body, and you dont have the upper body, it's easier to build the upper body, you have the upper body and and you dont have the legs, you got a problem, building the lower body. naw you dont understand. you HAVE, the UPPER body, but you dont have the lower body, you got a problem building downstairs. you got up the dlldldldldlegs on the bottom, it's it's easier to build the top ehoh if you, if you have the lower BODY, it's, if you have the lower body it's easier to build, if you have the lower body well just let me say it, if you have the lower body, lower body, it's easier to build the top body, if you have the uh the top body, and no legs you got a problem."

Best foods to cut body fat percentage?

Hey guys, I'm a really sedentary person, but not overweight. I'm hoping to cut some body fat though, and hoping to improve my diet. So far I mostly eat foods like eggs, rice, soup, chicken strips, burgers, chorizo sausage, coconut oil, hemp hearts, chia seeds, flax meal, french toast, yoghurt. A lot of these things keep me feeling full throughout the day, so I dont have to snack on junk food all the time. So what would you guys recommend for healthy foods that help cut body fat percentage?

I got these color slides with some camera gear recently. I'm not a body builder but I do love to collect and research photos, negatives, and slides.

They are absolutely fantastic images. I wanted to share the pictures and was hoping to get some help identifying the athletes.

I got more to post if the sub is enjoying them and thanks in advance if you know any of these body builders!

[Help] Training Upper Body with Injured Elbow

So like 2 months ago I injured my elbow outside of gym, and I haven’t been able to train my upper body since. Since then I’ve been training only my legs & abs, and I’m noticing muscle loss. Does anyone know exercises I can do for my upper body which wouldn’t further perpetuate my injury - which minimally or don’t use the elbow? Thanks

Suggestions - A replacement for bodybuilding

Hi all,

I've been bodybuilding for something like 20 years now, I'd say only semi serious, I try to eat healthy but don't obsess and its been all natural all the time. Also my workouts are kind of a semi hybrid of body building and strength training.

Anyway, after 20 years I've become bored. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for a different, more engaging and enjoyable activity that I can do that won't totally sacrifice the physique and strength i've built up over the years.

To be clear i'm not looking for a new workout routine, I've changed my routine up more ways than I can count, and I still intend to train once or twice a week, I'd just like to find something a little more engaging/rewarding/fun

I would take up surfing but i live about a 4 hour journey from the nearest good surfing beach. But that's definitely along the right lines I think.

Thanks in advance

Creed II's Ivan Drago is a world-class badass, and Swedish action star Dolph Lundgren had to be ready to look the part. He turned to trainer Chris Skogberg (@chrisskogberg) to help get him in fighting shape.

Skogberg is Australian by way of Sweden. He knew Lundgren was coming off shoulder and hip surgeries and needed a program to keep him progressing while providing a protective effect. He came up with routines like the one below.

What bodybuilding routine do YOU use, and why?

What are your goals?

I am thinking of PPLX2 but definitely think that it's a program to only run a maximum of 8-12 weeks before leaving it due to all that volume and just sheer days at the gym. Thoughts?

What exercise(s) is your body just not made for?

Hi guys!

A little background to this question:

6’ 2” 225 22 y/o Male

I’ve been lifting for about 7 years (4 serious) and I’ve put up decent numbers for my main lifts for a while but there are some exercises like squats that I just don’t think I’m made for.

I’ve repoed 405 x 5 several times in the past but every time my lover back hurts. I’ve changed my form, seen a chiropractor, taken painkillers, etc. nothing seems to fully fix the issue. Because of this I stray away from squats and seem to be feeling much better on a day to day basis with keeping my legs proportional to the rest of my body.

So I ask what exercises are you just not made for?

Keith Correa Deadlifted Nearly 5-Times His Bodyweight

It’s a big world and there are a lot of strong people living in it (like this woman and this guy). And, frankly, there’s not enough time to give every savage a shout out, but Keith Correa—a 148- and 165-pound USPA powerlifter—deadlifting 700 pounds deserves some publicity.

That’s almost five times his bodyweight. Pound-for-pound, Correa is stronger than a Musk Ox (which can pull 1.5 times its bodyweight), a Kodiak Bear (can pull 0.8 times its weight), and a freakin’ tiger (which can carry twice its weight). Oh, and he’s 22 years old.

This Apex Powerlifting Predator has won five of his eight meets, his most recent being in the 165-pound class at the 2017 DCS Fall Pen, posting a 1,400-pound total (452 squat, 314 bench, and 633 deadlift). In 2018, Correa got second at the highly competitive Kern US Open at 148 pounds, upping his deadlift to 667 and putting 100 pounds onto his total. Now just six months later, Correa managed to tack 33 more pounds onto his deadlift, setting himself up to have one hell of a competitive season in 2019.
