I mean, from the aesthetic point of view (I know, it's subjective, but still worth discussing, after all we're talking about an activity/sport judged solely on looks) I find today's bodybuilding competitive standards regarding legs a bit too much, detrimental to the whole original ideal of "ideal male physique".
Imho monster-sized legs, with huge quads take away from the upper body's development, they shrink the arms and shoulders and they make medium-height guys look short and squat, in that regard I'd rather take the old, classic look, with a muscular upper body and decently muscled legs, not nowadays legs that make bodybuilders look like oversized chickens walking with an awkward gait.
Maybe it's not really the right place to raise this topic, as this subreddit is dedicated to modern bodybuilding with its current rules and mantras, still I'd be grateful for feedback and thoughts.
